Berlin Marathon - September 2019

Joanne’s first World Major Marathon!  She applied for the lottery after watching a video of the 2018 Berlin Maratho - her Facebook post after watching the video was "I wonder if they have a three day time limit on this marathon because I would legit stop and look at every building along the way... Berlin is one of my most favorite places in the world!  Run through the Brandenburg Gate?! I NEED to set this as a lifetime goal for myself lol! " She applied for the lottery and got in.  The race was in September 2019.

Growing up in NY, many years Joanne watched the NYC Marathon on television.  She never pictured one day that could be her, but meeting a girl from New Jersey at a race in Arkansas changed my mind.  She told Joanne about NYRR 9+1, which gives guarenteed entry into the NYC Marathon for the next year, if you run 9 NYRR races and volunteer at one NYRR approved event.  Joanne then found out that 2020 will be the 50th Anniversary race, so she knew if she wanted to ever do NY, this was the year to go for it!  The 2020 NYC Marathon was canceled due to COVID19 but Joanne had the opportunity to run the race in 2021.  After losing her dad a few months prior to the race, she ran the race with her father’s photo attached to her shirt, and famously took off his photo and held it to the sky as she walked over the finishers mat.

Joanne will be running the London Marathon on 2025 with Marathon Tours!

During Covid, she completed their virtual marathon.

Joanne applied to the Chicago Marathon lottery in 2019.  She was accepted for 2020, however the race was canceled due to Covid 19.  Joanne is excited to someday run this course!
